Mt. Gangotri Peak Climbing (6577m.)

Located in the Gangotri Valley of the Garhwal region of the Himalayas, Mt. Gangotri III occupies one of Uttarakhand’s most picturesque spots. One of the three peaks that make up the Gangotri group of peaks, they rise above the RuduGaira Glacier. Sandwiched in between Mt Rudugaira to its right and Auden's Col pass to the left it is a magnificent sight to behold. Perfect for the serious climber.

Adventure Trek  Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Delhi
Arrive Delhi. Today we will visit the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) for briefing and to complete any required formalities. The rest of the day is at your leisure. Relax in your hotel or explore the many sights of Delhi: India Gate, Humayun’s Tomb, Lodhi Gardens, and many more.

Day 2:  Delhi to Rishikesh
Make the seven hour drive from Delhi to Rishikesh. Check in to your hotel, and spend the afternoon at your leisure exploring the holy town of Rishikesh. From Laxman Jhula and Shiva Mandir, to the evening aarti and adrenaline activities. There is plenty to do in town.

Day 3:  Rishikesh to Uttarkashi
After an early breakfast we will depart Rishikesh and make the picturesque drive to Uttarkashi, situated on the banks of Bhagirathi river. Today we will complete any local administration and Forest visiting the top mountaineering institute of India, the Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, the mountaineering aficionado's dream, of climbers past and present.

Day 4: Uttarkashi to Gangotri
After early breakfast we will depart Uttarkashi and take the beautiful six hour drive to Gangotri (10,200 feet). If time allows we may stop and Gangnani where we have a holy dip in the famous hot springs. This will be our greatest climb today, so it is essential not to exert yourself too much so as to properly acclimatize to the altitude.

Day 5:   Gangotri – Nala Camp
Today we will trek to Nala Camp (12,000 feet) where we stay for a night to reach our Base Camp the following day. It’s less than an hour trail to reach Rudugaira river from where there is a steep ascend to reach Nala Campsite. The camping site is quite nice & beautiful with easy access to running water. The campsite is situated on a lush green meadow on the bank of Rudugaira river.

Day 6 - 7:  Nala Camp to Base Camp(14770 feet).
On this Day 6 of our expedition we reach our Base Camp where stay for a few days to get acclimatise, test our technical skills and plan for our further expedition as per the current weather conditions. During our stay in Base Camp, we will study the local weather forecast and the gradient of the route, based on this we plan our further days of the expedition. Equipment distribution, route planning, team planning (advance team + backup team) revising technical skills, studying tricky passes, and making plans to tackle them. The most fundamental days at the base camp, we build a strong relationship with the team with good understanding which is essential for upcoming days
Today you will practise:

  • Self-arrest technique
  • Using fix ropes 
  • Fixing and De-fixing of carabiners
  • Walking with crampons - front pointing and flat footing (35 degrees to 55 degrees)
  • Knot practising
  • Ascending and descending techniques
  • Basic self-rescue techniques
  • Handling common accidents
  • Handling Ice axe 

Day 8:  Stay at BASE CAMP: LOAD FERRY to the ABC and come back to BC.

Day 9:  BASE CAMP to ADVANCE BASE CAMP(ABC)
This day we will leave our Base Camp and setup up Advance Base Camp for following days.

Day 10:  Rest day at ABC
Another rest day today for acclimatization, Go for a short height-gain and return to ABC for the overnight stay.

Day 11: LOAD FERRY TO SUMMIT CAMP and back to ABC

Day 12: Setting Up SUMMIT CAMP 
This day we will leave ABC and climb up to SUMMIT CAMP, we will set up our SUMMIT CAMP today.

Day 13:  THE SUMMIT DAY (6512 m) 
This is our first day when we attempt for Summit, on our successful attempt we will go back to SUMMIT CAMP.

Day 14:  Reserve Day for Summit

Day 15: Summit Camp to  ABC.

Day 16:  Descend to  BC.

Day 17:  Rest day - Debriefing.

Day 18:   Base Camp  – Gangotri.

In the morning, make a visit to the Indian Mountaineering Foundation (IMF) to complete any formalities, before our group departs.

  • Basic First aid Kit with a portable oxygen cylinder
