Chadar Trek is one of the most glamorous, one of the most thrilling and a must do trek of the world. Due to extreme weather conditions in winter at Ladakh , Zanskar river get freeze for 3-4 months and able to trekked for almost one and a half month which starts from January to Mid February. This trek is done in -15°C and -30°C which is one of the most challenging thing. You need to be mentally as well as physically prepared yourself to survive in such an atmosphere.
Your fitness is important although trek is not exhaustive. You need to cope up & be strong to handle such extreme weather conditions at this high altitudes. 3-4 kms of jogging or equivalent workout to this is required. Increase your stamina by doing it every day for 1-2 months. You need to increase you daily walk to make sure you do not strain yourself during trek. Additionally you can train yourself by avoiding hot water, warm clothes & blankets in your own city for couple of months before the trek. Plan the trek well in advance and start building your stamina, strength and lung capacity.
Acclimatization is important. You will get a day for this. Try and get acquainted with nature as much as you can. Avoid using heaters in room in Leh before the trek. Drink lot of Liquids (warm water, soup, tea) during trekking days. Embrace the climate & don’t just jump inside blankets. Soon the climate will become bearable & it would be fun.
This trek is both physically and mentally challenging, and not for the faint-hearted. But the high altitudes and low temperatures are all worth it for the unparalleled views and sense of accomplishment. The mother of all Indian treks.

Day 01: Leh
Arrive in Leh. Report to your hotel by 11.00am where we will complete a brief orientation and briefing.Our Senior Instructor and Trek Guide will brief your about the trek, you are advised to ask any questions to get comfortable with the trek details. We will be discussing the Chadar formation, Do's and Dont's, Climate and other essentials you need to know before commencing for the trek. Our representative will check every trekker's backpacks and you can leave the extra luggage behind. You will have enough time for shopping in case any essential is missing.
Day 02: Medical CheckUp and Acclimatisation
This is your second day of Acclimatisation, this day you will undergo a medical checkup at the Leh City Hospital, please note that the medical checkup can be on either day 1 or 2 depending upon the availability. This second medical checkup is a mandate for Leh Adventure Association, it is still mandatory for the trekkers to bring the Medical Certificate as per the White Peaks Adventure Mandates.

After breakfast, take the three-hour drive to the traditional Ladakhi village of Nimoo. Here you will have your first glimpse of the confluence of the Indus and Zanskar Rivers. From here, continue by road to Tilat Do. Crossing the Zanskar River on foot, we will set up camp for the night.

Day 04: Tsumo Paldar to Tibb Cave
Start the day at a reasonable 0700 hrs, with a cup of tea. After breakfast, we set off on the “Chadar” which will be our route for the rest of the trek. Today, we will cover between 10-12 km, and aim to camp in Gyalpo for the night.

Day 05: Tibb Cave to Nyerak
Following breakfast, we continue along the “Chadar”, through gorges on to Nyerak village. Along the way we pass a large frozen waterfall, a sight to behold, usually gushing during the summer season. Today we camp just below the Nyerak, visiting the village in the evening or hike the hill for unspoiled views of it.

Day 06: Nyerak to Lingshed
Often Chadar Trek lovers able to make it to Neyrak and trek even more further is only for true passionates. This day we will trek further Nyerak throught the frozen valley to reach Lingshed

Day 07: Lingshed to Nyerak
Do you spot the difference while witnessing the mighty waterfall on the way back, this day we will trek back and follow our traces to reach Nyerak.

Day 08: Nyerak to Tibb Cave
Today we will retrace our steps, but fear not, the return trek is not at all repetitive. The frozen river changes by the hour, and we will see the same route in a different light and temperature. A new trail in itself.

Day 09: Tibb Cave to Gyalpo
Continue along the “Chadar” to Gyalpo.

Day 10: Gyalpo to Leh
Today is our final day as we trek back towards Tilat Do. Here we cross the frozen Zanskar for the last time and then continue by road to Leh. Once back in town, check into your hotel and take a well deserved hot shower and relax for the evening.

Day 12: Buffer Day
Keeping a buffer day while planning for Linghsed trek is a very important recommendation to consider. Due to unpredictable weather circumstances it is possible to experience snow falls or transport issues. Enjoy this buffer day exploring the Leh and its outskirts in the winter season which is a rare and a whole different experience.
A new wildlife fee of approx 2200 INR for Indian nationals and approx 2500 INR for foreign nationals has recently been introduced. If applicable, payment will be made at the time of reporting in Leh
Leh is accessible only by air during winters. Nearest Airport is Kushok Bakula Rimpoche Airport is 5 Kms. leh, which is the nearest airport. Taxi services are available from the airport to Leh, costing between Rs.400 - Rs.1,000. Leh is well connected to Delhi by air. However, if you plan a trip to this area of the country, do book your tickets well in advance as prices can skyrocket! A beautiful flight, try and get a seat on the left-hand side of the plane for the very best views.
