Dhanna-Kunnu-Trek

In just five nights, Dhana Kunnu Pass offers a great snow trekking experience with amazingly scenic trails and is one of the most offbeat destinations in Himachal Pradesh. A moderate trail with gradual slopes and few steep patches to promote it from an easy to moderate level trek.The final stretch to reach Dhana Kunnu pass crosses a gradual ridge which offers a great view of Pir Panjal range and Parvati Valley.

Adventure Trek Itinerary

Day 01: Reporting at Manali

Report to base camp by 11.00am. After your initial WPA’s orientation and briefing on your upcoming programme, spend the day at your leisure. Naggar is a historic village 18km before Manali. Spend the day preparing with a few acclimatisation walks, but also relaxing before your trek!

Day 02 Drive to Jana; Trek to Matikochar
We will start our day with a one-hour drive to reach Jana village which is the starting point of the trek. The trail to Matikochar is an off road trail which is also our cycling route and goes though dense tree lines of pine trees. Its and easy four-hour hike to Matikochar.

Day 03: Matikochar to Phutasor
Today will be a long day. Walking for around seven hours we’ll be covering 12 kms of trail to reach our next campsite, Phutasor (9,240 ft.). Starting with a gradual slope we walk between pine trees and and move forward to a steep ascent.

Day 04: Phutasor to Dohra Nala
A relatively easy day, we cover some 10 km with a 7-hour moderate trail to reach Dohra Nala (10,200 ft), meaning the diversion of two streams in Hindi. We get one of the best view of Parvati Valley from Dohra Nalla. Our beautiful campsite for the day is between these two streams.

Day 05: Dohra nala to Naya Tapru.
As we start this most awaited day, we soon enter Rumtu after a gradual slope from Dohra Nala. Rumtu is a holy place where many religious ceremonies take place here, with people from the surrounding villages visiting to pay their respects. After crossing the open ground of Rumptu,  we will begin with a steep ascent to Dhana Kunnu Pass (11,800 feet) where we will stop for lunch and take in the far reaching views. Dhana Kunnu Pass is also a place for worship and offers a very clear view of Mt Deo Tibba , Mt Indrasan and other virgin peaks or Pir Panjal range.

Day 06 Naya Tapru to Chaklani and back to Naggar
An easy walk today as we leave our last camp night of the trip and start descend to reach Rumsu. It will take around three hours walking in no hurry reminiscing all the great things happened so far, crossing picturesque mountain meadows and villages. We will take a short ride from Rumsu to reach Naggar where the trip ends.
